The working class of the USA doesn't comprehend the
extent to which the administration caters to the hands that feed them.
Previous administrations passively "paid their dues" by inconspicuously
passing occasional bills that were unfairly favorable to their
benefactors. This administration, however, is spearheading an agenda
that showers the "Elite" with benefits and is detrimental to the common
American - not consequentially but by design.
This steamrolling of the the American people is
perpetrated with the sympathy of many of its victims. The Texan
Republican spin machine mastered the strategy of winning sentiment by
tagging their agenda with catch terms and phrases that evoke emotional
sympathy. By calling the Estate Tax "The Death Tax", millions of hard
working Americans who are taxed to the gills on their hard earned living
wages are now convinced that the rich should inherit millions, hundreds
of millions and even billions - tax free. Want to drastically cut the
taxes paid by the rich and increase the taxes paid by the poor? Call the
initiative "The Fair Tax" and your victims will believe you.
Never mind that this tax initiative will increase the burden of taxation
on those who have nothing more to give - while significantly
accelerating the wealth accumulation of those who, literally, have it
all.
The Fair Government Organization was started as a forum
for sounding policy suggestions for affecting long term improvements.
That goal still stands but we are now faced with a crisis that requires
immediate action. This crisis is the way the Bush administration is
helping the fortunate few to amass all the assets of this country and
keep all the fruit of our GDP - while suffocating three quarters of the
country. Every year that goes by under these circumstances depletes the
vast majority of the people of this country from whatever "assets" they
might have had. Forcing whole sectors of hand-to-mouth wage earners into
borrowing from financial institutions which are owned by wealthy
shareholders. It is not just a crisis of many individuals or families,
it is a crisis of the fabric of society - creating a small sector of
"capital lords", a huge sector of desperate debt-ridden laborers, and a
small sector of contempt service professionals.
Not too long ago it was common sense that in times of
economic downturns investors should reallocate their portfolio from
higher end brands to lower end brands. The rationale was that in hard
times shoppers would opt for Wal-Mart rather than Macys, let alone Saks.
That rationale is no longer valid. The poor already shop at Wal-Mart and
if the economy worsens, with no savings to speak of, fewer will be
able to afford even the bare necessities. On the other end of the
spectrum, the wealthy have been allowed to amass such reserves that
their shopping patterns will not be affected by overall economic
downturns. This time around, when the consumer segment collapses under
the growing tax burden and "the economy" goes into a recession - Gucci's
sales will go unaffected.
The situation is alarming but it is not visible to the
naked eye. Our article about
Economic
Trends is a MUST READ as
it demonstrates the severity of the situation. |
